Lily of the valley
Another of those ornamental plants, often you’ll find in parks and gardens. It’s not one I’ve come across yet in the wild, but it is out there.
Lily of the valley is your lookalike for wild garlic, so the differences are smell! If it smells of garlic, it’s garlic, if it doesn’t smell of garlic, it’s not garlic.
ID features for lily-of-the-valley
Long spare shaped leaf
Two leaves growing from one stem with a reddish sheath at the bottom
Flowers are small, bell, shaped and white (or pinkish) growing down one side the flower stem
Produces a red berry from each flower.
If you’ve got all of these features, it’s likely you have lily-of-the-valley don’t eat it!
