Dandelion Root Coffee
Dandelion Root Coffee
Foraging Forages
Dig up your dandelion roots with land owners permission.
Trim off any leafy bits and give the root a wash I use a nail brush to get the dirt out of the crevices
Chop to about 2 cm and place on a baking tray
Popping into a preheated oven of 180 and leave the door open a crack for 15 minutes to allow the moisture to escape
Continue to cook with the door shut for a further 30 minutes and you should smell when it’s ready. You don’t want the bits really burnt and black but they will be a lot darker and you should be smelling a mixture of coffee treacle and chocolate.
Once cooked allowed to cool and then grind into a powder. This is your dandelion root coffee which you can make a delicious brew by adding to a cafeteria or filter.
